Final renders and 3D Print

Well here's the final render, done in 3D Studio Max, and
the final 3D print made by 3D Creation Labs in Bristol.

I'm very pleased with how the print turned out, amazing
detail considering the model stands only 4 inches high.

Thanks to Domingos for deciding to get my model printed
and CG Coach for starting the competition!

Flake - 3D Sculpting

This is Flake after many hours of digital sculpting in ZBrush, I've also
included a close-up of the hand to show some of the details.

'Flake' The Dust Mite

I recently discovered a new website called CGCoach, they are currently running a competition called 'Creatures and Critters' whereby members are invited to create there very own creature or critter as a 3D digital sculpt.

The image on the left is my initial concept drawing for the competition. Its not as finished as some of my work but then again it is just a concept sketch just created to get a feel for the character.

Also each artist had to include a backstory for there creation, below is Flake The Dust Mites brief history.

Name: Flake
Species: Dust Mite…or might not

History: Mutated dust mite, became addicted to growth hormone in a local laboratory. Currently stands at 12 inches tall and now works in the same Lab but as the night shift cleaner. Suffers from Asthma, OCD and Hypoglycaemia (gets really moody if he doesn’t eat regularly, actually he’s pretty moody all the time). He also enjoys *deep-sea pygmy tickling on the weekend…but he suspects he could be pygmy intolerant.

Hobbies: Polishing, scrubbing, scraping, wiping, waxing (on and off) and buffing in private. Also recently enrolled in part-time mumbling classes.

*Checkout the Deep Sea Pygmy Tickling post for more details...

Balance

One of my more recent projects, the theme
for this was 'Balance'. I started off
going down the more obvious routes
but decided to go with a mountain
goat...and ended up with two of them.

All done in photoshop, took about 2days.

(Forth place, Gnomon Workshop Competition)

Here's a quick ZBrush sculpt I completed recently. It took me a day and a half on and off, but it was just an excuse to get back into ZBrush for a bit.

Imprisoned

Here's another competition entry, this time for the Gnomon Workshop, the theme title was 'imprisoned'. I figured most people would go down the route of prison cells with bars or something similar, so I put my own twist on it.

XBox 360 RROD Mimic Monster.

This mimic was done for a mini-competition on the Game Artisan website (3rd place), great site and great community...really enjoyed doing this one.
This sculpt was completed a few years back, created from a single ball of digital clay. Using two photographs as reference it took about a day and a half to finish.
These renders were created to get a more dynamic pose for a bottle sculpt I did a while back.
(Debbie O'Neil bottle concept).

Demons & Angels

Pumpkin was done for a competition a few months back.

The demon character was created at four o'clock in the morning. I couldn't sleep until I had finished painting him.

The dark angel started off as a wing study and developed from there.

Zoo Days...

Here's a couple of light studies I did last year after visiting a local zoo.

Both created in Painter and printed in large format.

Thanks
